It has poor corrosion resistance to oxidizing environments, therefore, it is not recommended for use in oxidizing media or in the presence of ferric or cupric salts because they may cause rapid premature corrosion failure. Premature failure may occur if Alloy C22 Pipes is used where iron or copper is present in a system containing hydrochloric acid.

It is non-hardenable by heat treatment, which further provides resistance to pure sulphuric acid and a number of non - oxidizing acids.
