There are 3 methods of rolling which the metal has to go through depending on the finished product required.

Hot rolling: The steel can be hot rolled where it passes through a temperature of over 1000° Fahrenheit. Hot rolled steel is more malleable which makes it easy to mold into different shapes. This is a good choice when the steel is manufactured for structural components. Steel Hot Rolled Hex Bars and Steel Hot Rolled Square Bars are a product of this process.

Cold rolling: The steel can be cold rolled where it stays at normal room temperature at the time of rolling. The cold rolled steel is stronger as compared to the hot rolled steel.  Due to its processing ways, it has a limitation to the shapes it can be molded into. Cold rolled steel is used to manufacture bars, rods, and sheets. These products are smaller than the hot rolled products and are more tolerant than the larger hot rolled products. Steel Cold Rolled Hex Bars and Steel Cold Rolled Square Bars are a product of this type of processing.

Cold drawing: Like cold rolling, cold drawing is performed at room temperature. Cold drawing makes the steel in the form of a wire which is pulled through a die to reshape the steel. Instead of squeezing the metal it is pulled out, hence the name cold drew. Spoke of a wheel or paper clips are a product of cold drawn steel.
